(BEIJING, Feb. 2) -- The office of solicitation for the Olympic Songs have
received more than 420 musical scores and 4,800 lyrics since the fourth round of
the campaign was launched on January 21.
Most of the works came from professional musicians and their quality is
quite high, the campaign organizers revealed.
A forum was held in Beijing on Thursday to discuss the next steps. Many
heavyweights of the Chinese music scene talked with Jiang Xiaoyu, executive
vice-president of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX
Olympiad (BOCOG) and expressed their opinion on how to select the best songs for
the Olympics.
Some of them proposed that music societies, renowned DC producers and young
musicians be enlisted to the campaign and the songs be a skillful blend of
Chinese and foreign styles, so as to appeal to all audiences.
